The workshop
A woodworking shop that kept its bench
Giorgetti describes itself as a company founded in 1898 in Meda, Brianza, as an artisan woodworking laboratory, and says the collaborations with outside designers that shaped the catalogue began at the end of the eighties. Solid wood is still the material it names first: maple, ebony, beech, walnut and the exotic pau ferro, selected by quality and provenance and dried before anything is cut.
Those woods get combined with stone, glass, leather and metal. The company says the whole creative and productive process is Italian, which is what lets it use the words made and manufactured in Italy, and that it has been exporting to the United States since the twenties, first as semi-finished pieces.
